Some birds are real pests Pigeons, starlings and indian mynah birds have adapted to live in or around buildings occupied by humans - they survive largely by scavenging for food, water, materials and shelter provided by human habitat.
Pigeons roost on building ledges, causing defacement and health risks from their droppings.
Starlings - Indian Mynah - Sparrows often cause big problems to home owners when they nest inside roof voids, causing thousands of minute bird mites to enter the premises. The bites of bird mites are 10 times worse than fleas and cause severe skin irritation and blotching. |

Starlings - Indian Mynah Birds - Sparrows

Bird mite infestations are common throughout NSW during the warmer summer months - the bird mite (sometimes wrongly called "bird lice") most often come from starlings, indian mynah or sparrows nesting inside roof voids or other areas of a building.
Severe skin reaction - the bites of bird mites are 10 times worse than fleas and cause severe skin irritation and blotching, particularly to children or people with sensitive skin.
Pest control for bird mites - firstly, FUMAPEST will conduct a thorough inpection of the building and surrounds - a quotation supplied for immediate eradication of the bird mites - and a quotation for closing off possible entry points for the birds into the roof void, if applicable.
Safer insecticides FUMAPEST uses the safer, but more expensive, synthetic pyrethroid insecticide to immediately treat the bird nest containing the bulk of the bird mites, prior to removal of the bird nesting materials. The surrounding roof void areas is then treated with a permethrin dust.
Inside the home - any bird mite infested areas in the living quarters of the home is treated with natural pyrethrins, as applied through a fogging machine that disperses the natural pyrethrin insecticide to penetrate into nooks and crannies where the bird mite may congregate. Essential for immediate relief.
To avoid on-going problems it is also essential to block off all possible entry points to ensure the birds cannot return. If entry points are left unchanged, then the Starlings or Indian Mynah birds will most likely return to the same location to build another nest to raise their young. FUMAPEST uses a range of bird proofing materials designed specifically for bird proofing of domestic and commercial premises.
